Not all stainless steel is alike. Most companies that market “stainless steel” outdoor heaters do not explain to you just what grade of stainless their products are constructed of. The standard patio heater is made of 304 stainless steel. Throughout our ongoing research and experience, we have found that 304 stainless-steel just is not suitable for installations that are along the coast and affected by salt water spray, or in locations where the units are subjected to the corrosive effects of polluted air, or even the effects of chlorine in swimming pool environments.

We are now pleased to announce that the Calcana High Output Series (HO)is one of the only outdoor heaters manufactured that offers a material alternative for all those extreme use applications.

The 316 stainless steel material upgrade allows for high-quality corrosion protection and is considered "the standard for marine grade stainless steel.” This optional material is used for all of the major components of the heater, including the reflector and burner component compartment. If you are installing a unit in any of these types of applications, the minimal increase in cost is well worth the longevity you will gain by ensuring your patio heater can stand up to the elements.
