Glass flame heaters have become increasingly popular over the last few years. First making an appearance in the hospitality industry, residential customers soon began requesting them for their home patios. It is not hard to see why these eye catching heaters would be desirable. The have many features business and homeowners alike are drawn to. The sleek design is contemporary and the visible dancing flame is mesmerizing.
There are a few downsides to this style of heater. The area affected by a pyramid style heater is smaller than your traditional “mushroom” style heater. The glass tube that contains the flame is fragile and can break and due to the smaller reflector size, there is more heat loss that with a traditional portable patio heater. Because of these factors, we don’t recommend that these heaters be used as a primary heat source in colder climates or by people who are looking to really warm things up on your patio.
