Below are some frequently asked questions and answers about natural gas patio heaters:

What are the Pros & Cons of Natural Gas Patio Heaters?

Energy Efficient

Natural gas patio heaters are less expensive to operate and generate more heat than their electric counterparts. They are also an excellent alternative if your electric panel is already over capacity or if you are otherwise unable to use an electric patio heater. Electric heaters operate at a higher voltage, which requires more running power and, consequently, may have higher electricity costs.

Installation is Easy

Gas Outdoor Patio Heaters has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience installing patio heaters in a variety of outdoor settings. As a result, we are uniquely qualified to determine the most suitable unit for your specific patio and the most efficient installation process. If you’re unsure which patio heater is best for you, simply take a photo and send it to us for assessment. Our in house patio heater expert Mike, will then determine the most appropriate natural gas patio heater installation for your home or business.

Cheaper to Buy

Our standup natural gas patio heaters are a better option if you’re on a tight budget. They are not nearly as expensive as their electric counterparts but perform just as effectively in most circumstances.

One major downside of natural gas heaters is the way they are constructed. For instance, they feature more moving components than their electric counterparts.

Carbon Monoxide Emissions

While typically quite efficient, natural gas patio heaters have the unfortunate side effect of emitting carbon monoxide fumes. As a result, it is highly advised that they be used in outdoor settings with ample ventilation.

Safer Clearance

Clearance is an important consideration when shopping for patio heaters. This refers to the distance from other potentially combustible components or equipment. When shopping, make sure to keep clearance in mind while looking for a gas wall or ceiling heater. Gas heaters must be installed with clearances, and they are typically more than twice the size of their electric counterparts. Contact our resident expert Mike to ask more questions about clearances.

How Much Does It Cost to Buy & Install a Natural Gas Patio Heater?

This depends on your patio heater’s make, model, and function. Generally, the prices range from $300 for the low-end models to over $2000 for the high-end models. You can browse our website for available models. Patio heater installation depends on the overall work needed to prep the entire system, but generally, the prices start at $950.

Our technicians highly recommend that you take pictures of the area so you can have your contractor or plumber accurately estimate the cost of installation. In most cases, the installation has to be coordinated with your gas company and other experts such as plumbers and HVAC specialists. If you have any questions or comments regarding any of the products, feel free to contact us right away. If you are local and are interested in having our expert team do the installations, contact us for pricing.

Can You Adjust the Heat?

Yes. Most of our natural gas patio heaters are equipped with an adjustable thermostat control that allows you to control the amount of heat produced by adjusting intensity.

Do Your Gas Heaters Come With a Remote Control?

Yes, but this also depends on the model. The SunPak models come with a battery-powered remote control module that can be used to switch the unit on and off and adjust the temperature. Others have 24 volt wired switches that perform the same function.

How Do I Determine Which Heaters Fit My Patio?

This will be determined primarily by the size of your patio. We stock different varieties of patio heaters, including industrial gas patio heaters, each of which can be used for a variety of different applications. We have Bromic heaters that are 24″, Schwank heaters that are 28 inches, and the famed Calcana patio heater models that are available in numerous sizes up to 21.5 feet inches. Some of them are as short as 5 feet. If you have any specific questions about size and space, please do not hesitate to contact us. Mike Workman will assist you in determining the most appropriate heater for your application.
